PROJECT SYNOPSIS
The Learning Commons was a new student center which included the campus library, interactive learning classrooms, a large meeting/event room with catering prep area, and a new central office area for the campus audiovisual department. The HVAC system included a VAV system using ice storage for reduced utility demand charges during peak days. Facility lighting utilized fluorescent and LED lamp sources which were controlled using a building wide digital controls system. The lighting controls incorporated occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting sensors to turn off lighting in unoccupied spaces or spaces with sufficient window exposure.
